Interview with Ron Wooten underwriter for Continental Brokers or CBI, an independent agency.

We interviewed Ron to learn more about SFIC’s underwriting process and also his thoughts on coverage for different types of fitness businesses.

  • (0:35) What makes SFIC's underwriting process different or stand out from the rest for health clubs and fitness studios?
  • (1:27) From a customer service perspective, what steps does SFIC take to make sure I'm getting the best rate or coverage for my business?
  • (2:05) How would someone go about getting coverage for virtual training or on-demand training? Is this covered under a studio or general liability policy?
  • (2:50) What are your thoughts regarding liability waivers to protect trainers and their businesses?
  • (3:43) When thinking about Workers Comp insurance, how much should a studio owner carry? What are some tips to ensure someone is properly covered?
  • (4:23) If any listener would like a quote, how do they get started?  How long does the process take?

Ron Wooten

I started my insurance career in 2005 with Alfa Insurance, a captive insurance company, where I ran my own agency until 2011 when I joined Continental Brokers (CBI) an independent agency.  Shortly after joining CBI, I started underwriting for Sports & Fitness Insurance Corp (SFIC) who is a sister company to CBI.  I underwrite health clubs and sports facilities for SFIC as well as write many other lines of both commercial and personal lines of business through CBI that does not fit the SFIC program appetite.
